This privacy policy explains how Relicbearer TD (the "Game"), developed by Coultergeist ("we", "us", "our"), handles information. It applies to every version of the Game, including the Google Play (Android), Apple App Store (iOS), Steam (Windows, Linux and Steam Deck) and GitHub tester releases.

The short version

  • We do not collect, store, share or sell any personal information.
  • The Game has no accounts, no advertising, no analytics, no tracking and no in-app purchases, and it contains no third-party advertising or analytics software.
  • Your progress is saved only on your own device. It is never sent to us.

Who we are

Coultergeist is an independent game developer based in the United Kingdom. For the purposes of UK data protection law (the UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018), Coultergeist is responsible for any personal information you choose to send us, for example by email.

Information stored on your device

To save your progress, the Game writes a save file to your device's local storage. It contains only game data:

  • levels completed and stars earned
  • upgrades, skill tree choices, relics and experience level
  • achievements unlocked in the Game and gameplay totals (such as enemies defeated and damage dealt per tower)
  • a snapshot of a run in progress, so you can resume it
  • your settings (such as display, audio and control preferences)

This file stays on your device and is never transmitted to us or to anyone else. It contains no name, email address, contact details, location, contacts, photos or device identifiers. You can delete it at any time by uninstalling the Game, clearing the Game's app data, or deleting the Game's save folder.

Device and platform backups: if you have enabled backups on your device or platform (for example Android backup, iCloud backup or Steam Cloud, where available), the operating system or platform may include the Game's save file in your backup. Those backups are handled by Google, Apple or Valve under their own privacy policies, not by us.

Device permissions (Android)

The Android version of the Game requests the following permissions:

PermissionWhy
InternetIncluded by the game engine (LÖVE). The Game itself does not make any network connections on Android.
VibrateShort haptic feedback when you tap on-screen controls.
BluetoothLets you play with a Bluetooth game controller.

The Game does not access your camera, microphone, location, contacts, photos or other personal files.

Network connections

The Google Play, App Store and Steam versions of the Game do not connect to the internet themselves. Downloads and updates for those versions are handled by the store.

GitHub tester builds (Windows only): builds downloaded directly from our GitHub releases page include a small updater. Each time the Game starts, the updater contacts GitHub (api.github.com and GitHub's download servers) to check whether a newer version is available and, if you choose to update, to download it. No save data or personal information is sent. As with any web request, GitHub receives your IP address and standard technical information (such as the request time and the updater's name and version) and handles it under the GitHub Privacy Statement. We do not receive this information.

Store and platform providers

The Game is distributed through third-party platforms that have their own privacy policies:

These platforms may collect information when you download or use apps through them, such as purchase and install records or play time. They may give us aggregated, anonymous statistics (such as the number of installs) and, if you have opted in through your device or platform settings, anonymous crash reports. This information does not identify you, and we use it only to keep the Game working.

Children's privacy

Relicbearer TD is suitable for players of all ages, including children under 13. Because the Game collects no personal information from anyone, it collects none from children either. The Game has no advertising, chat, social features, user accounts or links to external websites.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has sent us personal information (for example by email), please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

If you contact us

If you email us, we will receive your email address and anything you include in your message. We use this only to reply to you, and we delete it once it is no longer needed. Our lawful basis for this is our legitimate interest in answering your message. We will never share it with anyone else or use it for marketing.

Your rights

Under UK data protection law you have the right to ask for access to, correction of, or deletion of any personal information we hold about you, and to object to or restrict how we use it. In practice, the only personal information we could hold is correspondence you have sent us. To make a request, contact us using the details below.

If you are unhappy with how we have handled your information, you have the right to complain to the UK Information Commissioner's Office (ICO) at ico.org.uk.

Changes to this policy

If we change how the Game handles information, we will update this page and the effective date above.
